Set a target time for any race distance and see the pace per km and every kilometre split.
A pace table translates a target finishing time into the pace you need to hold per kilometre, and shows your cumulative time at every split. For a 5K in 25:00, you need a pace of 5:00/km — and at km 3 you should be at 15:00.
Even splits are the fastest strategy for most runners. Negative splits — running the second half slightly faster than the first — work too, but positive splits (going out too fast) almost always result in a slower total time because the slowdown in the last kilometres costs more than the early speed gained.
This tool assumes perfectly even splits. On a hilly course, adjust uphill splits +10-15 seconds and downhill splits −5-10 seconds per km. The cumulative time is the same; the distribution changes.
Pace = total time / distance. Split at km N = pace × N.
