(H6-17) Da befahl der König, daß man Daniel herbringe und in den Löwenzwinger werfe. Der König hob an und sprach zu Daniel: Dein Gott, dem du ohne Unterlaß dienst, der rette dich!

Da bestürmten jene Männer den König und sprachen zu dem König: Wisse, o König! es ist medisches und persisches Gesetz, daß jedes vom König erlassene Verbot und Gebot unwiderruflich ist!
