فقام داود وجاء الى المكان الذي نزل فيه شاول ونظر داود المكان الذي اضطجع فيه شاول وابنير بن نير رئيس جيشه. وكان شاول مضطجعا عند المتراس والشعب نزول حواليه.

Και σηκωθείς ο Δαβίδ ήλθεν εις τον τόπον όπου ο Σαούλ είχε στρατοπεδεύσει· και παρετήρησεν ο Δαβίδ τον τόπον όπου εκοιμάτο ο Σαούλ, και Αβενήρ ο υιός του Νηρ, ο αρχιστράτηγος αυτού· εκοιμάτο δε ο Σαούλ εντός του περιβόλου, και ο λαός ήτο εστρατοπεδευμένος κύκλω αυτού.
