Ist aber Christus nicht auferstanden, so ist euer Glaube nichtig, so seid ihr noch in euren Sünden;

and if Christ hath not been raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

And so, having been exhorted by the very good words of Judas, by which the readiness and courage of the young men were able to be raised and strengthened, they resolved to strive and to contend with fortitude, so that virtue would judge the matter, because the holy city and the temple were in peril.

Thus being exhorted with the words of Judas, which were very good, and proper to stir up the courage, and strengthen the hearts of the young men, they resolved to fight, and to set upon them manfully: that valour might decide the matter, because the holy city, and the temple were in danger.

Animados todos con estas palabras de Judas, las más eficaces para avivar el valor e infundir nuevo aliento en la juventud, resolvieron atacar y combatir vigorosamente a los enemigos, de modo que su esfuerzo decidiese la causa; pues así el Templo como la Ciudad Santa estaban en peligro.
