Und als man David anzeigte, daß Ahitophel mit Absalom verschworen sei, sprach David: HERR, mache doch den Rat Ahitophels zur Torheit!

Als man aber David hinterbrachte: Ahitophel ist unter den Verschwörern auf Absaloms Seite! Da rief David: Bethöre doch, Jahwe, Ahitophels Rat!

And word came to David, saying, Ahithophel is among those who are joined to Absalom. And David said, O Lord, let the wisdom of Ahithophel be made foolish.

Then it was reported to David that Ahithophel also had joined in swearing with Absalom. And David said, “O Lord, I beg you, to uncover the foolishness of the counsel of Ahithophel.”

And one told David saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. Then said David, Jehovah, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.
