فدعا الملك الجبعونيين وقال لهم. والجبعونيون ليسوا من بني اسرائيل بل من بقايا الاموريين وقد حلف لهم بنو اسرائيل وطلب شاول ان يقتلهم لاجل غيرته على بني اسرائيل ويهوذا.

Da ließ der König die Gibeoniter rufen und redete mit ihnen. Die Gibeoniter aber gehörten nicht zu den Kindern Israel, sondern waren von den Amoritern übriggeblieben; die Kinder Israel hatten ihnen geschworen; dennoch suchte Saul sie zu schlagen in seinem Eifer für die Kinder Israel und Juda.

Και εκαλεσεν ο βασιλευς τους Γαβαωνιτας και ειπε προς αυτους· οι δε Γαβαωνιται δεν ησαν των υιων Ισραηλ, αλλ' εκ των εναπολειφθεντων Αμορραιων· και οι υιοι Ισραηλ ειχον ομοσει προς αυτους· ο δε Σαουλ εζητησε να θανατωση αυτους απο του ζηλου αυτου προς τους υιους Ισραηλ και Ιουδα.

Και εκάλεσεν ο βασιλεύς τους Γαβαωνίτας και είπε προς αυτούς· οι δε Γαβαωνίται δεν ήσαν των υιών Ισραήλ, αλλ' εκ των εναπολειφθέντων Αμορραίων· και οι υιοί Ισραήλ είχον ομόσει προς αυτούς· ο δε Σαούλ εζήτησε να θανατώση αυτούς από του ζήλου αυτού προς τους υιούς Ισραήλ και Ιούδα.

Kongen lot da gibeonittene kalle og talte med dem. Gibeonittene hørte ikke til Israels barn, men var av de amoritter som var blitt tilbake i landet, og Israels barn hadde svoret dem en ed, men Saul søkte å slå dem ihjel i sin nidkjærhet for Israels og Judas barn.
