This tool reads the screen properties reported by the browser: the logical resolution (what the OS shows), the available area (minus taskbar), the color depth in bits per channel, and the device pixel ratio.
On HiDPI (Retina) displays, the pixel ratio is 2 or 3, meaning the physical resolution is 2× or 3× the logical one. A 1920×1080 display at 2× actually has 3840×2160 physical pixels.
Color depth is typically 24 bits (8 per channel = 16.7 million colors) on standard monitors and 30 bits (10 per channel = 1 billion colors) on wide-gamut displays.
The number of physical pixels per logical pixel. A ratio of 2 means 4 physical pixels (2×2) render each logical pixel — this is what Apple calls Retina.
