About this tool

Meta tags are the instructions a page gives to search engines and social networks. The title tag and meta description tell Google what the page is about; the Open Graph tags tell Facebook, LinkedIn and WhatsApp what to show when someone shares the link; and the Twitter Card tags do the same for X. Writing them by hand means knowing which property names each platform expects, which ones overlap and which ones do not.

This generator fills in the standard set: the title, the meta description, the canonical URL, the four core Open Graph tags (type, title, description, image) and the three Twitter Card tags (card type, title, description). The code block updates as you type, with the correct property names and escaping. Copy it and paste it into the of your HTML.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need both Open Graph and Twitter Card tags?

Twitter falls back to Open Graph if Twitter Card tags are missing, but having both gives you control over each platform. The generator includes both.

What image size should I use for og:image?

1200 × 630 pixels is the recommended size. It works well on Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and Twitter.

What is the canonical URL?

It tells search engines which URL is the original when the same content is accessible at multiple addresses. Set it to the URL you want Google to index.

Does this tool check if my tags are correct?

It generates them correctly from the text you type. To check how they render on a live page, use the Facebook Sharing Debugger or Twitter Card Validator.

What content type should I choose?

Use "website" for home pages and general pages, "article" for blog posts and news, and "product" for e-commerce product pages.
