Flow Rate Converter

Convert between litres per minute, cubic metres per hour, US gallons per minute and other flow rate units.

How to use

  1. Type a flow rate and select the unit you have.
  2. All other flow rate units appear instantly.
  3. Common in plumbing (L/min), HVAC (CFM), irrigation (m³/h) and oil (bbl/d).

About this tool

Flow rate is volume per unit time — how much fluid passes a point in a pipe, a duct or a channel. Plumbers and hydraulic engineers work in litres per minute (L/min) or cubic metres per hour (m³/h). HVAC technicians use cubic feet per minute (CFM). Oil and gas reports use barrels per day (bbl/d). This converter handles all of them.

The conversions are pure arithmetic based on the definitions of the volume and time units. There is no temperature, pressure or fluid-density dependency here — this is volumetric flow, not mass flow.

The conversion runs entirely in JavaScript with no server calls, so your data stays on your device.

The formula

value_in_target = value_in_source × (source_factor / target_factor), where factors are in L/min.

Frequently asked questions

What is GPM?

US gallons per minute. One US gallon is 3.785 litres, so 1 GPM ≈ 3.785 L/min.

What is CFM?

Cubic feet per minute, used in HVAC and pneumatics. 1 CFM ≈ 28.32 L/min.

Does my data leave my browser?

No. Everything runs locally in JavaScript on your device — nothing is transmitted or stored.

Is this mass flow or volumetric flow?

Volumetric. For mass flow you would need the fluid density.
