  2. The formatted citation appears instantly, following ABNT NBR 6023 rules for the chosen source type.
  3. Copy the citation and paste it into your bibliography or works-cited list.

About this tool

Formats academic references according to ABNT NBR 6023, the standard required by most Brazilian universities and academic journals. Supports books, journal articles, websites, theses, legislation and conference papers.

The tool applies ABNT rules for author order (last name first, uppercase), italics on titles, edition abbreviations and punctuation. It handles multiple authors, corporate authors and works without a named author.

Always review the generated citation against your institution's specific guidelines — some universities add local rules on top of NBR 6023. The tool gives you a correct starting point; final formatting is your responsibility.
