Can I search for exact phrases?
Yes. Wrap your phrase in double quotes (e.g., "the Lord is my shepherd") to find that exact sequence of words. Without quotes, the search finds verses containing all the words in any order.
What search operators are supported?
You can use: "exact phrase" for exact matches, -word to exclude a word, OR for alternatives, prefix* for partial matches, and NEAR(word1 word2, 5) to find words within 5 words of each other.
Can I search in different Bible translations?
Yes. Use the translation dropdown to select from over 50 translations in multiple languages. Each translation is fully indexed for instant search results.
How do I filter results by book or testament?
Use the sidebar filters to narrow results by Old Testament, New Testament, or specific book groups (Pentateuch, Historical, Poetic, Prophetic, Gospels, Epistles). Click any individual book to see only its results.
What do the Strong's and Topical hints show?
When your search term matches entries in the Hebrew & Greek Lexicon or the Topical Bible, related entries appear below the results. This helps you explore the original-language meaning and thematic connections of your search term.
Why do some searches return no results?
Each Bible translation uses different vocabulary. A word that appears in one translation may not exist in another. Try switching translations or using a synonym. Also check for typos or try a shorter search term.
Can I sort results differently?
Yes. You can sort by relevance (default) or biblical order. Relevance ranks verses where your word appears most prominently, while biblical order follows the sequence from Genesis to Revelation.
