Frequently Asked Questions

What does this tool show?
The Biblical Genealogy tool maps 3,009 people mentioned in the Bible with their family relationships — parents, children, spouses, siblings, and extended family connections.
How do I find a person?
Use the search box to search by name. The home page shows the 80 most connected people. You can also search in your own language — for example, searching "Moisés" will find Moses.
What information does each person's page show?
Each person's page displays their name, a brief description, their sex, tribe (if applicable), and all known family relationships organized by type (father, mother, sons, daughters, spouse, etc.).
How are relationships determined?
Relationships are extracted from biblical texts — explicit statements like "X was the son of Y" or "X married Y." The database includes both direct statements and genealogical lists from books like Genesis, Chronicles, and Matthew.
Can I navigate between family members?
Yes. Each related person is a clickable link. You can trace family lines by clicking from parent to child to grandchild, exploring entire family trees across generations.
Why do some people appear multiple times?
The Bible contains many people with the same name. For example, there are multiple people named "Mary" or "John." Each is listed separately with a unique identifier and distinguishing description.
What do the relationship labels mean?
Labels describe what each listed person is TO the current person. If you're viewing Adam, and Eve is listed under "Wife," it means Eve is Adam's wife. The tool uses 20+ relationship types including father, mother, son, daughter, husband, wife, brother, sister, and more.
Are the descriptions translated?
Yes. Descriptions for the most important biblical figures are translated into 9 languages. Common patterns like "son of X" and "daughter of Y" are automatically translated in all languages.
