فلما رأى الملك استير الملكة واقفة في الدار نالت نعمة في عينيه فمدّ الملك لاستير قضيب الذهب الذي بيده فدنت استير ولمست راس القضيب.
Stalo se, pravím, když uzřel král Ester královnu, ana stojí v síni, že milostí jsa k ní nakloněn, vztáhl král k Ester berlu zlatou, kterouž držel v ruce své. Tedy přistoupivši Ester, dotkla se konce berly.
Og det skete, der Kongen saa Esther, Dronningen, staa i Forgaarden, da fik hun Naade for hans Øjne, og Kongen udrakte Guldspiret, som var i hans Haand, imod Esther; da kom Esther frem og rørte ved Spidsen paa Spiret.

Και ως ειδεν ο βασιλευς την Εσθηρ την βασιλισσαν ισταμενην εν τη αυλη, ευρηκε χαριν ενωπιον αυτου· και εξετεινεν ο βασιλευς προς την Εσθηρ το χρυσουν σκηπτρον το εν τη χειρι αυτου· και επλησιασεν η Εσθηρ και ηγγισε το ακρον του σκηπτρου.
Και ως είδεν ο βασιλεύς την Εσθήρ την βασίλισσαν ισταμένην εν τη αυλή, εύρηκε χάριν ενώπιον αυτού· και εξέτεινεν ο βασιλεύς προς την Εσθήρ το χρυσούν σκήπτρον το εν τη χειρί αυτού· και επλησίασεν η Εσθήρ και ήγγισε το άκρον του σκήπτρου.
And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favor in his sight; and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.

But how I shall get this money, I cannot tell; he knoweth not me, and I know not him: what token shall I give him? nor did I ever know the way which leadeth thither.

Da nu kongen så dronning Ester stå i gården, fant hun nåde for hans øine; kongen rakte ut gullstaven som han hadde i hånden, mot Ester, og Ester gikk frem og rørte ved enden av staven.
