What sizes should I include?

For a website favicon, 16×16, 32×32 and 48×48 are the essential sizes. Add 64 and 256 for higher-resolution displays.

Does the image need to be square?

Not required, but recommended. Non-square images will be stretched to fit the square icon dimensions.

How is this different from the Favicon Generator?
