وتثق انك قائد للعميان ونور للذين في الظلمة

A za to máš, že jsi ty vůdcím slepých, světlem těch, kteříž jsou ve tmě,

Mattathias aber gab mit lauter Stimme folgende Antwort: »Wenn auch alle Völker im ganzen Bereich der Herrschaft des Königs ihm Gehorsam leisten, so daß jeder vom Gottesglauben seiner Väter abfällt und sie sich willig seinen Geboten gefügt haben,

wenn du dir zutraust, ein Leiter der Blinden, ein Licht derer zu sein, die in der Finsternis sind,
