Er verweilte aber dort bei Jahwe vierzig Tage und vierzig Nächte, ohne Speise und Trank zu sich zu nehmen. Da schrieb er die Bundesgebote, die zehn Gebote, auf die Tafeln.

Και ητο εκει μετα του Κυριου τεσσαρακοντα ημερας και τεσσαρακοντα νυκτας· αρτον δεν εφαγε και υδωρ δεν επιε. Και εγραψεν επι των πλακων τους λογους της διαθηκης, τας δεκα εντολας.

And he was there with Jehovah forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.

And for forty days and forty nights Moses was there with the Lord, and in that time he had no food or drink. And he put in writing on the stones the words of the agreement, the ten rules of the law.

Therefore, he was in that place with the Lord for forty days and forty nights; he did not eat bread and he did not drink water, and he wrote on the tablets the ten words of the covenant.
