وكأنه كان امرا زهيدا سلوكه في خطايا يربعام بن نباط حتى اتخذ ايزابل ابنة اثبعل ملك الصيدونيين امرأة وسار وعبد البعل وسجد له.

Και ως αν ήτο μικρόν το να περιπατή εις τας αμαρτίας του Ιεροβοάμ, υιού του Ναβάτ, έλαβεν έτι διά γυναίκα Ιεζάβελ, την θυγατέρα του Εθβαάλ, βασιλέως των Σιδωνίων, και υπήγε και ελάτρευσε τον Βάαλ και προσεκύνησεν αυτόν.
