Dadurch in Wut versetzt, nahm er sich vor, die Juden den Schimpf, den sie ihm durch seine Besiegung angetan hatten, entgelten zu lassen, und befahl daher seinem Wagenlenker, ohne Rast zu jagen und die Fahrt zu Ende zu bringen, während doch das Strafgericht vom Himmel her bereits über seinem Haupte schwebte. Denn so hatte er in seinem Übermut gesprochen: »Zum Totenacker der Juden will ich Jerusalem machen, wenn ich dorthin komme!«

Haben wir nicht Vollmacht, zu essen und zu trinken?

And so, rising up in anger, he thought to turn back upon the Jews the injury done by those who had put him to flight. And, therefore, he ordered his chariot to be driven without stopping along the way, for the judgment of heaven was urging him on, because he had spoken so arrogantly about how he would come to Jerusalem and make it into a mass grave for the Jews.

And swelling with anger, he thought to revenge upon the Jews the injury done by them that had put him to flight. And therefore he commanded his chariot to be driven, without stopping in his journey, the judgment of heaven urging him forward, because he had spoken so proudly, that he would come to Jerusalem, and make it a common burying place of the Jews.

Con lo que montando en cólera, pensó desfogarla en los judíos, y vengarse así del ultraje que le habían hecho los que le obligaron a huir. Por tanto, mandó que anduviese más aprisa su carroza, caminando sin pararse, impelido para ello del juicio del cielo, por la insolencia con que había dicho: Que él iría a Jerusalén, y la convertiría en un cementerio de cadáveres hacinados de judíos.
