Dies alles habe ich mir zu Herzen genommen, und dies habe ich zu erkennen gesucht, daß die Gerechten und die Weisen und ihre Werke in der Hand Gottes sind. Der Mensch merkt weder Liebe noch Haß; es steht ihnen alles bevor, den einen wie den andern.

Denn alles das merkte ich mir wohl und alles das erforschte ich: daß die Frommen und die Weisen und ihre Thaten in der Hand Gottes sind; weder Lieben noch Hassen weiß der Mensch vorher; alles steht ihnen bevor.

Certainement j'ai appliqué mon coeur à tout cela, pour l'éclaircir, savoir, que les justes et les sages, et leurs actions, sont dans la main de Dieu, et l'amour et la haine; et que les hommes ne connaissent rien de tout ce qui est devant eux.
