Convert any video clip to an animated GIF — set start, end, FPS and width. Runs entirely in your browser via WebAssembly.
This tool converts a video clip to an animated GIF using ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. The entire conversion runs in your browser — no data is uploaded to any server. The first use downloads the ffmpeg engine (~31 MB), which is then cached by your browser.
You can control the output quality by adjusting the frame rate (FPS) and width. Lower FPS and smaller width produce smaller files. The tool uses the Lanczos scaling algorithm for the best quality at reduced sizes.
GIF is a legacy format with a 256-colour palette, so the output will always be larger and lower quality than the source video. For sharing short clips where universal compatibility matters (email, forums, older messaging apps), GIF is still the most reliable choice.
No. The entire conversion runs locally via WebAssembly. No data is uploaded.
The ffmpeg engine (~31 MB) needs to be downloaded once. After that it is cached by your browser.
The upload limit is 50 MB. Processing time depends on your device — a 10-second clip typically takes 5–15 seconds.
The tool works best with short clips (under 30 seconds). Longer videos produce very large GIF files and may be slow on mobile devices.
