Calculate the volume of a pool in litres from its shape and dimensions — rectangular, circular or oval.
Knowing the pool volume in litres is essential for water treatment: chlorine, algaecide and pH adjusters are all dosed per litre. A typical 8 × 4 × 1.4 m rectangular pool holds about 44,800 litres (44.8 m³).
This calculator handles three shapes. Rectangular is length × width × depth. Circular is π × (diameter/2)² × depth. Oval uses the ellipse formula with a 0.89 correction factor for typical kidney-shaped pools.
The depth should be the average of the shallow and deep ends. For a pool that goes from 1.0 to 2.0 m, use 1.5 m. If the bottom is uneven, measure at several points and average.
