Quick reference for video duration, aspect ratio, resolution and file size limits on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, X and Pinterest.
Every social media platform accepts video, and every one of them has different limits on duration, aspect ratio, resolution and file size. An Instagram Reel can be up to 15 minutes long, but a Story is 60 seconds. A YouTube video can be 12 hours and 256 GB; a TikTok video is 10 minutes and 4 GB. A LinkedIn native video needs to be at least 3 seconds. Upload a file that exceeds any of these limits and the platform either rejects it or compresses it into something you would not have approved. Checking the specs before exporting saves time and quality.
This page collects the video specifications for seven platforms — Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, X (Twitter) and Pinterest — in one table. Each row covers a video format (Reel, Short, Story, feed, live, ad) with its maximum duration, accepted aspect ratios, maximum resolution and file size limit. Notes flag the details that matter — that Instagram Stories auto-split into 15-second segments, that LinkedIn videos need a 3-second minimum, that X Premium extends the duration limit. The data comes from the official platform documentation and the review date is printed at the bottom.
The page runs entirely in your browser. It is a reference table — it tells you what the platform accepts, not how to produce it. Specs change with platform updates, so verify against the official documentation for time-sensitive campaigns.
9:16 is the standard for Reels, Shorts, TikTok and Stories. Some platforms also accept 4:5 for feed posts.
Most platforms re-encode your video. Uploading at the recommended resolution and a high bitrate gives the encoder better source material. Check the bitrate calculator tool for guidance.
They are reviewed on the date shown. Platforms update specs without notice.
H.264 (MP4) is accepted everywhere. H.265/HEVC is accepted by some platforms with better compression but slower processing.
