About this tool

Reddit uses a variant of Markdown for formatting posts and comments. Bold is **text**, italic is *text*, links are [text](url), and code blocks are indented by four spaces or wrapped in triple backticks.

This tool provides buttons for the most common formatting options and generates the correct Markdown syntax. It also handles Reddit-specific features like spoiler tags (>!text!<) and superscript (^text).

The preview shows how the text will appear on Reddit. Note that Reddit's Markdown parser has some differences from standard CommonMark — this tool follows Reddit's syntax.

Why does my formatting not work on Reddit?

Reddit requires a blank line before lists and block quotes. This tool adds them automatically.

Can I use HTML on Reddit?

No — Reddit strips HTML from posts and comments. Use Markdown syntax only.

Does this work for old Reddit and new Reddit?

New Reddit has a rich text editor, but the Markdown syntax works on both versions.
