The DOT price in reais with the time the quote was taken, a two-way converter, and a straight account of parachains, the end of the slot auctions and a price that has not come back.
Polkadot (DOT): R$ 5,8900, +12,24%.
Polkadot was designed by Gavin Wood, who wrote Ethereum's technical specification and then left to build something with a different shape. A central relay chain provides the security; separate chains, called parachains, plug into it and inherit that security instead of recruiting validators of their own. For four years the only way in was a slot auction: a project competed for a two-year lease by gathering DOT from supporters in a crowdloan, the coins locked for the duration and returned at the end without interest. Acala won the first in November 2021. That mechanism has since been retired — Polkadot now sells "coretime", blockspace bought in bulk or by the block: cheaper, far less theatrical, and the end of the biggest source of locked-up demand for the coin.
The record deserves a plain reading. DOT peaked above US$ 50 in November 2021 and has spent the years since an order of magnitude below that, lagging most large alternatives through the recoveries that followed; many crowdloan participants got their coins back into a far lower price than the one they locked at. The on-chain treasury, which anyone can propose to spend from, drew heavy criticism in 2024 when disclosures showed tens of millions of dollars going out in half a year, much of it on marketing, faster than it came in. Holders answered through the same on-chain voting, replacing open-ended inflation with a fixed annual issuance that steps down over time. Meanwhile the core software is being rewritten again: JAM, announced in 2024, rebuilds the layer parachains sit on. Repeated re-architecture is not automatically bad; it is, reliably, delay.
The value at the top is a CoinGecko reference, averaged across exchanges and stored by a job that runs every half hour, with the moment of the quote beside it; your exchange adds its own spread and its own fees. DOT can be staked, by nominating validators yourself or through an exchange in one click, and the reward comes from newly issued coins — so it largely offsets the dilution it creates rather than being income from outside. There is no Brazilian use case to point at: DOT is here because it is listed on Brazilian exchanges. Around fifty parachains are connected, and only a minority see meaningful use.
From CoinGecko, which averages the price across many exchanges, saved here by a job that runs every 30 minutes; the date and time of that quote are printed under the value. Press "Refresh rate" and your browser fetches the current one directly. DOT trades every day, so this number moves on a Sunday.
Because this is an average reference and an exchange is a shop with its own prices. It quotes a buying and a selling price with a spread between them, charges a trading fee and charges again to withdraw, so a gap of a couple of per cent is normal and a small order widens it.
A chain with its own rules that connects to Polkadot and is secured by Polkadot's validators rather than by its own. The auctions are over: since 2024 projects buy blockspace as coretime, in bulk or by the block, instead of winning a two-year lease with borrowed DOT. Coins locked in a 2021 or 2022 crowdloan were returned when the lease expired.
There is no fixed cap. Issuance was open-ended for years and was replaced in 2024, by on-chain vote, with a fixed annual amount that steps down over time. Staking pays a share of that issuance, so the yield mostly compensates for dilution rather than being a return from outside. Coins also unbond over several weeks.
