This tool reads your device's geographic position using the browser's Geolocation API. On a phone, the position comes from the GPS chip and is usually accurate to within 5-10 metres in open sky. On a desktop without GPS, the browser estimates the position from your IP address and nearby Wi-Fi networks, which can be accurate to a city block or off by several kilometres.
Permission is requested only when you click the button, and only once per session. The coordinates are shown on screen and never sent to any server — the Geolocation API is a browser feature, not a web service. If you deny permission, the tool cannot determine your position; change the setting in your browser's site permissions.
The accuracy radius is the browser's own estimate of how reliable the position is. A small number (5-15 m) means GPS lock; a large number (hundreds or thousands of metres) means the position came from IP geolocation or cell towers and should be treated as approximate.
