Text Cleaner

Remove extra spaces, tabs, blank lines and messy line breaks from any text — in your browser.

How to use

  1. Paste the messy text in the input field — from a PDF, an e-mail, a web page or a document.
  2. Tick the cleanups you want: collapse spaces, trim lines, convert tabs, fix line breaks, drop empty lines.
  3. Click "Clean" and compare the character counts before and after. Copy or download the result.

About this tool

Text copied from PDFs, web pages, e-mails and chat exports carries invisible junk: double and triple spaces, tabs where spaces should be, hard line breaks in the middle of sentences, and towers of empty lines between paragraphs. Cleaning that by hand is slow and error-prone. This tool does it in one click, and each cleanup is a separate checkbox, so you apply exactly the fixes you want and nothing more.

The options work like this. "Collapse multiple spaces" turns any run of two or more spaces into a single one — it never touches single spaces, so words are never glued together. "Trim each line" removes spaces and tabs from the beginning and end of every line. "Convert tabs to spaces" replaces each tab character with one space. "Collapse extra line breaks" reduces three or more consecutive line breaks to two, keeping one blank line between paragraphs. "Replace all line breaks with a space" is the aggressive variant: it joins the whole text into flowing lines — the classic fix for PDF text that arrives with a break at the end of every printed line. "Remove empty lines" deletes lines that contain nothing or only whitespace.

The fixes are applied in a sensible order (tabs first, then trims, then breaks, then spaces), so combining options never produces leftover artifacts. After cleaning, the status line shows the character count before and after — a quick, honest measure of how much junk was removed. The text never leaves your device: everything runs 100% in your browser, so drafts, contracts and confidential documents are safe to clean here.

Frequently asked questions

Which options fix text copied from a PDF?

Tick "Replace all line breaks with a space" plus "Collapse multiple spaces". PDFs break every printed line, and this combination rebuilds the paragraphs into flowing text.

What counts as an "extra" line break?

Three or more consecutive breaks. They are collapsed to exactly two, which keeps one blank line between paragraphs — normal paragraph spacing is preserved.

Can it glue words together by accident?

No. Collapsing spaces only affects runs of two or more, and trimming only touches the ends of lines. Single spaces between words are never removed.

Is my original text lost after cleaning?

No. The input field keeps your original text untouched; the cleaned version appears in the output field. Untick or tick options and click "Clean" again to try a different combination.

Does my text leave my browser?

No. All cleaning runs in JavaScript on your device — nothing is transmitted or stored, so confidential text is safe here.
