How to use

  1. Enter the concentration of the stock solution in volumes (e.g. 30 volumes for salon-grade).
  2. Enter the desired concentration and the final volume you need.
  3. The tool shows how much stock solution and water to mix.

About this tool

In Brazil, hydrogen peroxide is sold by "volumes" — a unit that indicates how many millilitres of oxygen gas one millilitre of the solution releases. 10 volumes is about 3% H₂O₂, 20 volumes about 6%, 30 volumes about 9%. Pharmacies, beauty salons and first-aid kits all use this scale.

The dilution is a simple C₁V₁ = C₂V₂ calculation. If you have 30-volume peroxide and need 10-volume, you use one part peroxide to two parts distilled water. This tool does the arithmetic for any concentration and any final volume.

This is an informational tool. For medical or cosmetic use, follow the instructions of the product manufacturer or a qualified professional. High-concentration peroxide is a strong oxidiser and causes chemical burns on contact with skin.

The formula

V₁ = C₂ × V₂ / C₁. Water = V₂ − V₁.

Frequently asked questions

What do "volumes" mean?

The number of millilitres of O₂ released per mL of solution. 10 volumes ≈ 3% H₂O₂, 20 ≈ 6%, 30 ≈ 9%, 40 ≈ 12%.

Can I use tap water?

Distilled or filtered water is recommended. Tap water contains minerals and chlorine that can react with peroxide.

Is this safe for hair?

This tool calculates the dilution. Whether the concentration is appropriate for your hair type is a question for a hairdresser, not a calculator.
