The Dogecoin price in reais with the time it was taken, a two-way converter, and a plain description of what a memecoin is.
Dogecoin Price Today (DOGE to BRL): R$ 0,451221, +7,74%.
Dogecoin was created in December 2013 by two programmers as a parody of the crypto boom, carrying the face of a Shiba Inu from an internet meme, and it was not meant to last a month. Technically it is a fork of Litecoin: proof-of-work mining, a new block every minute, and since 2014 mined alongside Litecoin, which is where the bulk of its security comes from. Saying it plainly costs nothing: this is a memecoin. There is no scarcity story behind it and no problem it solves better than the coin it was copied from. What it has is a crowd, and the crowd is the whole point.
Two facts explain most of the chart. The first is supply: there is no cap. Ten thousand new coins appear every minute, roughly five billion a year, on top of more than 140 billion already circulating. The amount added is fixed rather than a percentage, so the yearly inflation rate falls over time but never reaches zero — unlike Bitcoin, this coin is permanently inflationary. The second is attention: the price has moved on posts by well-known figures, on a television appearance in May 2021, on a social network swapping its logo for the dog in 2023, and in 2025 on a United States government department that merely shared the letters DOGE. That is not a criticism, it is the mechanism.
The real uses are genuine and small: tipping online, a few charity campaigns that funded a bobsled team and a race car, some merchandise checkouts. What to count on instead is volatility — Dogecoin fell roughly 90% from its 2021 peak over the following year — and the fact that its fundamental is attention, the one input nobody can forecast. This page exists to tell you the price and where it came from, nothing more: the number is a market reference from CoinGecko, your exchange charges its own spread and fees, and none of this is a recommendation.
From CoinGecko, which averages the price across exchanges. A scheduled job stores it here every 30 minutes, and the date and time of that quote are printed under the value. The refresh button fetches the current price live from your browser. Crypto trades every day, weekends included, so this number keeps moving when a currency quote would be frozen.
Because this is a market average, not an offer. An exchange quotes a buy and a sell price with a spread between them, adds a trading fee, and prices its own dollar conversion into the real. On a coin worth centavos the spread is easy to underestimate: one centavo per coin is a large percentage.
No. About five billion new coins are issued every year, indefinitely, on top of more than 140 billion already circulating. Because that amount is fixed in absolute terms, the percentage added each year keeps falling — but the supply never stops growing. It is the opposite of Bitcoin's 21 million cap.
No, and it is the most common misunderstanding here. The unit price says nothing about value: R$ 100 buys R$ 100 worth of either coin, and how many units that is depends only on how the supply was divided. For a coin worth centavos to reach a high price, an enormous supply would have to be revalued at once.
Because attention is the demand. With no cash flow, no scarcity schedule and nothing to anchor a valuation, what is left is how many people want it right now — and that is set by what is being talked about. It works downward at the same speed: the falls are as sharp as the rallies.
