How to use

  1. Read the AVAX price in reais at the top, with the date and time of the quote printed under it.
  2. Type an amount in either field — AVAX costs more per unit than most of its peers, so the table stops at 250 coins and the reverse column starts at R$ 100.
  3. Press "Refresh rate" for the current value. The network runs every day, so the price moves at weekends too.

About this tool

Avalanche's distinguishing idea is that it is not one chain. It runs three by default — one for issuing assets, one that behaves like Ethereum and is where nearly every user ends up, and one that tracks validators — and it lets anyone launch further networks, called subnets and renamed L1s at the end of 2024. Such a network has its own validators, its own fee token and its own rules, including the ability to require identity checks of everyone who validates it: exactly what a bank or a game studio wants, and exactly what a fully public chain cannot offer. Consensus works by repeated random polling — each validator asks a small random sample what it thinks, over and over, until the answer stops changing — and settles in under a second.

The honest part is how thin that is in practice. Real deployments exist: a Deloitte pilot for disaster-relief reimbursement, tokenised fund experiments with large asset managers, a few games on networks of their own. But most subnets carry very little activity, and until the Etna upgrade in December 2024 validating one meant locking 2,000 AVAX per validator, pricing out precisely the small projects the design was for; that was replaced by a modest recurring fee. As for the coin: every fee paid on the network is burned, so demand tracks how busy those chains are, against a cap of 720 million and a release schedule that keeps delivering founder and investor allocations regardless of price. AVAX peaked near US$ 145 in November 2021 and traded around a tenth of that a year later.

The value at the top is a CoinGecko reference, averaged across exchanges and stored by a job that runs every half hour, with the moment of the quote beside it; the exchange you buy on adds its own spread and its own fees. There is no particular Brazilian angle here and it is worth saying plainly: AVAX is listed on the local exchanges, and that is the whole connection. What you would be buying is a bet that companies and games will run their own chains and pay for the privilege — a plausible thesis, several years old, still mostly unproven at volume.

Frequently asked questions

Where does this number come from, and how old is it?

From CoinGecko, which averages the price across many exchanges, saved here by a job that runs every 30 minutes; the date and time of that quote are printed under the value. Press "Refresh rate" and your browser fetches the current one directly. AVAX trades every day, weekends included.

Why is the price at my exchange different from the one here?

Because this is an average reference and an exchange sets its own prices. It quotes a buying and a selling price with a spread between them, charges a trading fee and charges again on withdrawal. A difference of a couple of per cent is ordinary, and larger on a small order.

What is a subnet, and why would anyone want one?

A separate network that borrows Avalanche's software but sets its own rules: who may validate, which token pays the fees, whether participants must be identified. That last point is the commercial argument — a regulated institution can run a chain where every validator is known. The counter-argument is that a chain with few validators and few users has given up most of what made a public chain interesting.

Is there a maximum supply of AVAX?

Yes, 720 million, and fees are burned against it. That is not the whole story: a large share went to the team, the foundation and early investors, and unlocks on a schedule that runs for years and does not pause because the price is low. Check where it stands before treating the cap as a scarcity argument.
