Global Currency Converter

Convert between any two currencies with daily exchange rates from the European Central Bank — 40+ currencies, no sign-up.

How to use

  1. Choose the source currency, type the amount, and choose the target currency.
  2. Click "Convert" — the page fetches the current exchange rate from the European Central Bank and shows the result.
  3. The rate is updated once a day on ECB business days. It is a reference mid-market rate, not a buy or sell price.

About this tool

This converter fetches exchange rates from the Frankfurter API, which mirrors the daily reference rates published by the European Central Bank. The ECB publishes rates for about 30 currencies against the euro every business day at 16:00 CET, and Frankfurter extends the list with derived cross-rates. The result you see here is a mid-market reference — the midpoint between buying and selling — not the rate any bank or exchange office will actually give you.

The practical difference matters. When you buy foreign currency at a bank or an exchange office, the spread between the buy and sell rates can be 2% to 8% depending on the currency and the channel. The rate here tells you what the currency is worth in the interbank market; the rate you get tells you what the intermediary charges for the service. Use this to know the reference; use the institution quote to know the cost.

The rate is fetched live from the API when you click "Convert". Your browser makes the request directly — the amount you type is not sent to this server or stored anywhere. The ECB does not publish rates on weekends or European holidays; on those days the last business-day rate is used.

The formula

converted = amount × (target rate ÷ source rate), where rates are the ECB reference rates against the euro.

Frequently asked questions

How often is the rate updated?

Once a day on ECB business days, around 16:00 CET. On weekends and European holidays the last published rate is used.

Why is the rate different from my bank?

Because this is the mid-market reference rate. Your bank adds a spread — the difference between the buying and selling price — which is how it makes money on the transaction.

Is my amount sent to a server?

No. Your browser fetches the rate directly from the Frankfurter API. The amount is multiplied locally in JavaScript and never leaves your device.

Can I convert crypto?

No — this converter covers fiat currencies only. For Bitcoin, Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies, use the dedicated quote pages in the Exchange Rates section.

What about the Brazilian real?

BRL is in the list. The ECB publishes a daily EUR/BRL rate, and cross-rates like USD/BRL are derived from it.
