Best Card Purchase Day

Find the day that gives the longest credit card float.

How to use

  1. Enter your credit card closing date (the day the statement is generated) and the due date (when payment is owed).
  2. Enter the date of a purchase you are planning.
  3. See how many interest-free days you get and whether waiting a day would push the purchase into the next billing cycle.

About this tool

Credit card purchases made just after the closing date get the longest float — up to 40 days of interest-free credit. Purchases made just before closing appear on the current statement and are due much sooner.

This tool shows exactly how many days of float each purchase date gives you, so you can time large purchases to maximise the interest-free period.

The calculation assumes you pay the full statement balance on the due date. If you revolve the balance, interest accrues regardless of when the purchase was made.
