Average speed is distance divided by time — the simplest equation in kinematics. This tool solves it for whichever of the three variables you leave empty: given distance and time it computes speed, given speed and time it computes distance, given speed and distance it computes time.
The word "average" matters. A car that covers 120 km in 2 hours has an average speed of 60 km/h, but it may have been doing 80 on the highway and 30 in the city. The formula gives the single constant speed that would cover the same distance in the same time — nothing more.
Distance is in kilometres, time in hours (decimals: 1.5 = 1h30min) and speed in km/h. The result also shows miles per hour (1 km/h ≈ 0.621 mph) for comparison.
v = d / t. d = v × t. t = d / v. 1 km/h = 0.621371 mph.

No — instantaneous speed is the speed at a single moment. Average speed is the total distance divided by the total time. They are equal only if the speed never changes.
