فذهب الخمسة الرجال وجاءوا الى لايش ورأوا الشعب الذين فيها ساكنين بطمانينة كعادة الصيدونيين مستريحين مطمئنين وليس في الارض مؤذ بأمر وارث رياسة وهم بعيدون عن الصيدونيين وليس لهم امر مع انسان.

Tedy odešlo pět mužů těch, a přišli do Lais, a viděli lid, kterýž tam byl, bezpečně bydlící, vedlé obyčeje Sidonských v zahálce a bezpečnosti, a že nebylo, co by je kormoutiti mělo v té zemi, ani kdo by dědičně ujíti chtěl království. K tomu i od Sidonských vzdáleni byli, aniž spříznění jaké s kým měli.

Da zogen die fünf Männer weiter, gelangten nach Lais und sahen, daß die dortige Bevölkerung nach der Weise der Sidonier sorglos lebte, friedlich und in Sicherheit, und an nichts Mangel hatte, was es auf Erden gibt, vielmehr im Besitz von Reichtum war; daß sie auch von den Sidoniern entfernt wohnten und mit den Aramäern in keiner Verbindung standen.

Da gingen die fünf Männer hin und kamen gen Lais; und sie sahen, daß das Volk, das darin war, sicher wohnte nach der Weise der Zidonier, ruhig und sicher; und es war niemand im Lande, der ihnen etwas zuleide tat; sie besaßen Reichtum und wohnten fern von den Zidoniern und hatten mit keinem Menschen etwas zu tun.

So zogen die fünf Männer weiter und gelangten nach Lais. Da nahmen sie wahr, wie die Leute darin sorglos lebten nach der Weise der Sidonier, ruhig und sorglos, indem an nichts Mangel im Lande war, und im Besitze von Reichtum. Auch waren sie fern von den Sidoniern und hatten mit niemandem Verkehr.

Τοτε ανεχωρησαν οι πεντε ανδρες και ηλθον εις Λαισα, και ειδον τον λαον τον κατοικουντα εν αυτη αμεριμνον, κατα τον τροπον των Σιδωνιων, ησυχαζοντα και ζωντα εν αφοβια· και δεν ητο ουδεις αρχων εν τω τοπω, οστις να περιστελλη αυτους εις ουδεν· και αυτοι ησαν μακραν των Σιδωνιων, και δεν ειχον συγκοινωνιαν με ουδενα.

Τότε ανεχώρησαν οι πέντε άνδρες και ήλθον εις Λαϊσά, και είδον τον λαόν τον κατοικούντα εν αυτή αμέριμνον, κατά τον τρόπον των Σιδωνίων, ησυχάζοντα και ζώντα εν αφοβία· και δεν ήτο ουδείς άρχων εν τω τόπω, όστις να περιστέλλη αυτούς εις ουδέν· και αυτοί ήσαν μακράν των Σιδωνίων, και δεν είχον συγκοινωνίαν με ουδένα.

Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that were therein, how they dwelt in security, after the manner of the Sidonians, quiet and secure; for there was none in the land, possessing authority, that might put them to shame in anything, and they were far from the Sidonians, and had no dealings with any man.

Then the five men went on their way and came to Laish and saw the people who were there, living without thought of danger, like the Zidonians, quiet and safe; for they had everything on earth for their needs, and they were far from the Zidonians and had no business with Aram.

And so the five men, going on, arrived at Laish. And they saw the people, living in it without any fear, according to the custom of the Sidonians, secure and peaceful, having hardly anyone to oppose them, and with great wealth, and living separately, far from Sidon and from all men.

And the five men departed, and came to Laish; and they saw the people that were therein, dwelling securely, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and no one was in the land who possessed authority, that might put [them] to shame in anything; and they were far from the Zidonians, and had nothing to do with [any] man.

So the five men going on came to Lais: and they saw how the people dwelt therein without any fear, according to the custom of the Sidonians, secure and easy, having no man at all to oppose them, being very rich, and living separated, at a distance from Sidon and from all men.

Then the fiue men departed and came to Laish, and sawe the people that were therein, which dwelt carelesse, after the maner of the Zidonians, quiet and sure, because no man made any trouble in the lande, or vsurped any dominion: also they were farre from the Zidonians, and had no businesse with other men.

Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that {were} therein, how they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and {there was} no magistrate in the land, that might put {them} to shame in {any} thing; and they {were} far from the Zidonians, and had no business with {any} man. {Laish: also called, Leshem} {magistrate: Heb. possessor, or, heir of restraints}

Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people who were there, and how they lived in security, after the manner of the Sidonians, quiet and secure; for there was no one in the land possessing authority that might trouble them in anyway, and they were far from the Sidonians, and had no dealings with anyone.

Ils virent que le peuple qui y était, habitait en sécurité, à la manière des Sidoniens, tranquille et confiant, sans que personne dans le pays eût autorité sur eux et leur fît injure en rien; ils étaient éloignés des Sidoniens, et ils n'avaient à faire avec personne.

Et les cinq hommes partirent et ils arrivèrent à Laïs. Et ils virent le peuple qui y était, vivant en sécurité, à la manière des Sidoniens, paisible et confiant; et il n'y avait point dans le pays de détenteur du pouvoir qui les molestât d'aucune manière, et ils étaient éloignés des Sidoniens et ils n'avaient affaire avec personne.

Ces cinq hommes donc s’en allèrent, et arrivèrent à Laïs, et ils virent que le peuple de cette ville habitait en assurance, et vivait en repos, et se croyait en sûreté, à la façon des Sidoniens; et qu’il n’y avait personne au pays qui leur fît de la peine en aucune chose, parce qu’ils étaient libres de toute ancienneté; et aussi ils étaient éloignés des Sidoniens, et n’avaient commerce avec personne.

Et les cinq hommes s’en allèrent, et vinrent à Laïs; et ils virent le peuple qui était au milieu d’elle, habitant en sécurité, à la manière des Sidoniens, tranquille et confiant; et il n’y avait dans le pays personne qui, possédant la domination, les moleste en aucune chose; et ils étaient éloignés des Sidoniens, et n’avaient commerce avec personne.

Então aqueles cinco homens se partiram, e vieram a Laís: e viram que o povo que habitava nela estava seguro, ocioso e confiante, conforme o costume dos de Sidom; não havia ninguém naquela região que os perturbasse em coisa alguma; além disso, os sidônios estavam distantes, e não tinham negócios com ninguém.
