A však synů jejich nekázal mordovati, ale učinil tak, jakž psáno jest v zákoně, v knize Mojžíšově, kdež přikázal Hospodin, řka: Nebudou na hrdle trestáni otcové za syny, aniž synové trestáni budou na hrdle za otce, ale jeden každý za svůj hřích umře.

Aber ihre Söhne tötete er nicht, sondern tat, wie geschrieben steht im Gesetzbuche Moses, da der HERR gebietet und spricht: Die Väter sollen nicht für die Söhne und die Söhne nicht für die Väter sterben, sondern ein jeder soll um seiner eigenen Sünde willen sterben!

Ihre Kinder ließ er jedoch nicht hinrichten, sondern verfuhr nach dem Gebote Jahwes, das im Gesetz, im Buche Moses, geschrieben steht und so lautet: Es sollen nicht Väter um der Kinder willen und Kinder um der Väter willen sterben, sondern sollen ein jeder nur wegen seines eigenen Vergehens getötet werden dürfen.

τα τεκνα ομως αυτων δεν εθανατωσεν, ως ειναι γεγραμμενον εν τω νομω, εν τω βιβλιω του Μωυσεως, οπου ο Κυριος προσεταξε, λεγων, οι πατερες δεν θελουσι θανατονεσθαι δια τα τεκνα, ουδε τα τεκνα θελουσι θανατονεσθαι δια τους πατερας· αλλ' εκαστος θελει θανατονεσθαι δια το εαυτου αμαρτημα.

But he put not their children to death, but did according to that which is written in the law in the book of Moses, as Jehovah commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.
