About this tool

A Pix key is just an alias that points to a bank account, and the Brazilian Central Bank accepts five kinds: a CPF, a CNPJ, an e-mail address, a mobile or landline phone number, and a random key — the EVP, a UUID your bank generates for you. Each kind has its own shape, and the DICT registry stores it in one canonical form: eleven or fourteen bare digits for CPF and CNPJ, a lower-case e-mail of at most 77 characters, a phone in E.164 with the +55 country code, and a lower-case version-4 UUID.

This tool figures out which of the five you pasted and then applies the right check. CPF and CNPJ go through the full modulo 11 check-digit algorithm, so a transposed digit is caught. Phone numbers are normalised — parentheses, dashes and a missing +55 are handled — and then checked against the list of Brazilian area codes and the 8-digit landline / 9-digit mobile rules. E-mails go through a strict syntax check plus the 77-character limit. Random keys must be a well-formed version-4 UUID, which is what banks actually issue.

One thing this tool deliberately does not do: it never asks any bank whether the key exists. There is no request, no lookup, no network of any kind — the key you paste never leaves your browser, which matters when you are checking a supplier list or a payroll spreadsheet. So a "valid format" answer means the key is well-formed and could be registered, not that money sent to it will arrive. Always confirm the account holder name your banking app shows before confirming a transfer.

The formula

CPF and CNPJ: modulo 11 check digits — weighted sum of the digits, remainder of the division by 11, digit is 0 when the remainder is 0 or 1, otherwise 11 minus the remainder. Phone: E.164 as +55 followed by a valid two-digit area code and either 8 digits starting with 2-5 (landline) or 9 digits starting with 9 (mobile). E-mail: RFC-style syntax, at most 77 characters. Random key: version-4 UUID, 36 lower-case characters with hyphens.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tool check whether the Pix key really exists?

No. It checks the format only — nothing is sent to any bank or to the Central Bank DICT registry. A well-formed key may still be unregistered, and only your banking app can confirm who owns it.

What are the five types of Pix key?

CPF, CNPJ, e-mail address, phone number and the random key (EVP), a UUID generated by your bank. A person may hold up to five keys per account; a company, up to twenty.

Eleven digits can be a CPF or a mobile number — how does the tool decide?

It tries the CPF check digits first. If they hold, it reads the value as a CPF and warns you when the same digits would also be a valid mobile; if they fail, it tries the number as a Brazilian mobile. Writing a phone key as +5511987654321 removes the ambiguity for good.

Do my Pix keys leave my browser?

No. The whole validation runs in JavaScript on your device, with no network requests at all. You can safely paste a full customer or supplier list.

Why was my e-mail key rejected?

Either the syntax is off — a missing dot in the domain, a stray space, two @ signs — or it is longer than 77 characters, which is the hard limit the Pix registry imposes on e-mail keys.
