WHOIS Lookup

Query the WHOIS registration data for any domain — registrar, creation date, expiry, nameservers and contact information.

How to use

  1. Type a domain name. The tool routes the query to the right WHOIS server based on the TLD.
  2. Click "Look up" and the raw WHOIS response appears — registrar, dates, nameservers and whatever the registry publishes.
  3. The data is read-only and not stored. For .br domains it queries whois.registro.br; for .com/.net it queries Verisign.

About this tool

WHOIS is the protocol that lets anyone ask a domain registry who registered a domain, when, through which registrar, and when it expires. The server opens a TCP connection to port 43 of the registry's WHOIS server and sends the domain name; the response is the raw text the registry returns.

Different registries return different amounts of information. The Registro.br for .br domains is relatively detailed; GDPR-era .com responses from ICANN registrars often redact the owner's name and contact. What you see here is what the registry chose to publish — this tool adds nothing and removes nothing.

The query runs on our server with rate limiting. The domain you look up is sent to the corresponding WHOIS server and is not stored on our side.

Frequently asked questions

Which WHOIS server is used?

It depends on the TLD: whois.registro.br for .br, whois.verisign-grs.com for .com and .net, whois.pir.org for .org, and whois.iana.org for everything else as a fallback.

Why is the owner information hidden?

Since GDPR, many registrars redact personal data from WHOIS responses. The registry decides what to show, and this tool just displays what it returns.

Can I look up IP addresses?

No, this tool is for domain names. IP WHOIS queries go to different servers (ARIN, RIPE, APNIC) and use a different format.

Is there a rate limit?

Yes, both on our side and on the WHOIS servers themselves. A few queries per minute is fine for normal use.
