Brazilian Bank Code Lookup

Search for any Brazilian bank by name, COMPE code or ISPB number — the codes used in TED, DOC and Pix transfers.

How to use

  1. Type a bank name, COMPE code or ISPB number in the search field.
  2. The table filters instantly to show matching banks with their codes and institution type.
  3. Use the COMPE code (3 digits) for TED/DOC or the ISPB (8 digits) for Pix and SPI transactions.

About this tool

Every bank transfer in Brazil uses one of two codes to identify the receiving institution. The COMPE code is the older one — three digits, assigned by the Banco Central, used in TED and DOC transfers since the days of paper slips. The ISPB is the newer eight-digit code that identifies participants in the Brazilian Payment System (SPB) and is the one behind Pix. A Pix transfer to a bank account uses the ISPB to route the money, even if the app shows you the bank name instead.

This tool lists the main Brazilian financial institutions with both codes. The table includes traditional banks, digital banks, cooperatives like Sicredi and Sicoob, and payment institutions like Nubank, PagSeguro and Stone — all of which have their own ISPB and participate in Pix. You can search by name, by either code, or by institution type. The data comes from the Banco Central participant list and is reviewed periodically.

Everything runs in your browser. The table is embedded in the page, no request is made to the Banco Central or any other server, and the search you type is not logged or stored. The tool exists so you do not have to open the BCB PDF every time you need a bank code for a transfer form.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between COMPE and ISPB?

COMPE is a 3-digit code used in TED and DOC transfers. ISPB is an 8-digit code that identifies the institution in the Brazilian Payment System (SPB) and is used in Pix. Some institutions have both; newer ones may have only an ISPB.

Which code do I use for Pix?

The ISPB. When you make a Pix to a bank account (not a key), the ISPB routes the transfer through the SPI. Most apps hide this behind the bank name, but the code is what the system uses.

Is Nubank a bank?

Nu Pagamentos is classified as an instituição de pagamento (payment institution). It has its own ISPB and participates in Pix, TED and all major payment rails. For practical purposes it works like a bank, but it is not chartered as one.

Does this list include all banks?

It includes the main institutions — traditional banks, digital banks, major cooperatives and payment institutions. Smaller credit unions and niche institutions may not be listed. The full list is published by the Banco Central.

Does the search leave my browser?

No. The table is embedded in the page. The search runs locally and nothing is uploaded or stored.
