Daily Tarot Draw

Draw one or three cards from the 78-card Rider-Waite deck — with upright and reversed meanings for reflection.

How to use

  1. Choose how many cards to draw — one for a daily reflection, three for a past-present-future spread.
  2. Click "Draw" and the cards appear with their names, positions (upright or reversed) and meanings.
  3. Read the meaning that matches the position. A reversed card is not the opposite of the upright — it suggests the theme is blocked, internalized or asking for attention.

About this tool

The Rider-Waite deck, published in 1909 and now in the public domain, has 78 cards: 22 major arcana (The Fool through The World) and 56 minor arcana in four suits (Wands, Cups, Swords, Pentacles). The major arcana represent big themes — beginnings, endings, transformation, justice — and the minor arcana represent daily life in four areas: creativity, emotions, intellect and the material world.

A daily draw is the simplest way to use tarot: one card for the day, read as an invitation to notice that theme. A three-card spread adds structure — past influence, present situation, future direction — without the complexity of a full Celtic Cross. Whether a card lands upright or reversed changes the reading: the reversed meaning is not the opposite, but the same theme turned inward, blocked or calling for caution.

This tool uses a cryptographically random shuffle. The deck is rebuilt for each draw, so no card appears twice in the same spread. Nothing is stored — the draw happens in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Are the cards random?

Yes. The shuffle uses Math.random, and the deck is rebuilt for each draw. No card appears twice in the same spread.

What does reversed mean?

The card is read with its reversed meaning, which suggests the theme is blocked, internalized or needs attention. It is not the simple opposite of the upright.

Where do the meanings come from?

From the Rider-Waite tradition, which is the most widely used interpretation in English-language tarot. Other traditions assign different meanings.

Is this fortune-telling?

No. Tarot cards do not predict the future. The draw is a prompt for reflection — what you see in the card is more about you than about the card.

Why only 22 major arcana meanings?

The 56 minor arcana use the suit meaning as a general guide. Each rank within a suit carries a progression from Ace (beginning) through Ten (completion) and the court cards.
